This is a PENGUIN Class 11'5" long sailing dingy, Boat Number 8598, built in 1967. Most if not all the details about this boat comes from a file passed on by the previous owners. This is a "cat" boat, meaning it has 1 main sail of 72 sq-ft (sail number 8598, of course), and no jib sail. The beam is 4' 8", and she weighs about [removed phone]lbs. not including mast, boom and oars. It has a wood centerboard which is about 45" long, but because some of the centerboard, when lowered, is inside the boat's centerboard well, the boat itself draws only about 3'6" with the centerboard down. When attached to the transom, the rudder sticks down in the water about 3ft. Both the mast and the boom are solid wood, and when the mast is stepped, it is fastened securely to the hull with a wire forestay and port and starboard wire stays, all 3 of which are easily fastened. The rudder and tiller are wood, but the rudder is additionally strengthened by fiberglas on both sides. The boat has 2 oars that fit into oarlocks, if you need to row the boat. Although there are some hairline cracks here and there in the hull, the boat and sail are essentially in good, sail-able condition. The trailer is a GREAT DANE, GATOR Model, VIN FR[removed phone]) on which the paint is thinning, but the brake lamps work and the trailer has been working well without any problems this past spring & summer 2012. The trailer is currently licensed in NY and passed inspection in April of 2012, and takes a 1-7/8" ball. It and the boat are located in Irvington, NY, 10533. Naturally, we will be happy to show you how to rig the boat for sailing, including stepping the mast, attaching the boom, raising the sail, etc.The boat and trailer are sold AS IS (please inspect both on the premises, carefully, before purchase). The boat goes with the trailer, and the combination will not be shipped.
